Common Swift in Northamptonshire

Parachute display.

This Common Swift Apus apus has stopped flapping and raised its wings. It then parachuted down for 1-2 seconds, falling no more than 5-10m before returning to normal level flight. This is part of courtship display and continues throughout the season.
