Key to Text Moths of Northamptonshire

Key to Map
  Cream-bordered Green Pea Earias clorana

  Status:  Resident.

Distribution and Abundance:  Local.

Primary Habitat:  Wetland.

Flight Period:  Mainly single brooded in June and July, occasionally seen as a partial second brood in August.

Localities:  Ditchford lakes, Newton, Whitewater Reservoir and Belham Wood.

Observations:  Prior to m.v. light trapping there were no Northamptonshire records for this species. It has now been recorded from some twelve sites, occasionally well away from wetland. Even though some of these are possible breeding sites it has always been seen in very small numbers at light. The SP98 record is of a caterpillar of the species which was beaten from osier at Boughton Park on 24 July 2004. Searches for the larva may be a way of increasing the known distribution of the species in the county. The moth enjoyed a particularly good year in 2006 substantially increasing its range within the county.

L.O.N.:  Unrecorded.

First Record:  1951, Wellingborough, Gent.
