| Status:
Resident. Distribution
and Abundance: Common.
Primary
Habitat: Grassland.
Flight Period: Single
brooded in September and October.
Observations:
Dark forms of the moth predominate in most of the
Northamptonshire populations that I have seen. The pale
ochreous and intermediate forms seem to be fairly common
and rufous forms rare. The moth can be very plentiful at
light as in 2001 at the static Pitsford Reservoir m.v.
light traps where 430 examples were taken between 10
September 2001 and 7 October 2001.
L.O.N.: 1907.
Many localities. Fairly common at sugar.
First Record: 1882,
Hull & Tomalin.
