  Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in August and September.

Observations: The first of the sallows on the wing and often plentiful by late August. Quite variable in the extent and darkness of the colouring of the forewing banding.

L.O.N.: 1907. Northampton, Kettering, Wadenhoe. Not uncommon at light.
