  Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Very common.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Single brooded in March and April.

Observations: The species can be very common at light as shown by returns from the two Pitsford Water light traps for 2009 which show 313 moths recorded with an overall flight period of 27 March to 6 May. Melanics occur but are rare. The only example that I have seen is a melanic female that emerged from a pupa dug from the roots of elm at Warkton in 1975.
