Key to Text Moths of Northamptonshire

Key to Map
  Hedge Rustic Tholera cespitis

  Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Local.

Primary Habitat: Grassland.

Flight Period: Single brooded in August and September.

Localities: Yardley Chase, Harrington, King’s Wood and Helpston.

Observations: There is a 1956 record of moths coming to sugar at Grafton Park Wood, but generally nowadays most records appear to be of singletons at light. The only exception to this that I am aware of is on 12 August 1995 at Whitewater Reservoir when several moths were attracted to m.v. lights running on the site.

L.O.N.: 1902. Brigstock, Sutton Heath, Cliffe. At light.

First Record: 1902, Wallis.
