  Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Common.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded from July to September.

Observations: The moth is variable in abundance as demonstrated by the following annual catches at the Pitsford Reservoir light traps. Viz:- 1999 - 41, 2000 - 57, 2001 - 12 and 2002 - 20. Several caterpillars were found feeding on the opening buds of hawthorn and blackthorn in the spring of 1979 at Pottedbrig Spinney.

L.O.N.: 1906. Near Kettering, Cliffe, Northampton etc. Not common.
