Key to Map
  Alder Kitten Furcula bicuspis

  Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Rare

Primary Habitat: Wetland.

Flight Period: Recorded in late May in very good condition.

Record: 28 May 1998 Wellingborough (D. Larkin).

Observations: The photograph shows the actual Wellingborough moth that was taken in a garden m.v. light trap, presumably having wandered from nearby alders. Over the years empty cocoons have been found on alders at Castle Ashby and Lilford and again at Wadenhoe. Some of these have been quite fresh. Although unlikely in all instances, due to the possibility of being empty Sallow Kitten cocoons, the records have been discounted. All attempts to find the moth in any of these localities have failed.

L.O.N.: 1906. Blatherwyke, Wadenhoe. The usual unsatisfactory records of empty pupa cases. I once found a full one but it did not emerge.

First Record: 1998, Larkin.
