  Striped Hawk-moth Hyles livornica

  Status: Migrant.

Distribution and Abundance: Rare.

Primary Habitat: General occurrence.

Flight Period: Recorded from May to November.

Records: 27 September 2006 Delapre Golf Course (P. Fox), 14 November 1997 Daventry (K. Williams) and 22 May 1992 Castor Hanglands (C. Gardiner).

Observations: The 2006 and 1997 records were of moths that were found dead. The 1997 moth on a wood pile and although it was seen in November had doubtless been there for some time. It was in fair condition, in a resting position and had possibly died there in that state due to earlier frost. The 1992 record was at a time of high migration of the species to southern England. There is a further record of a moth having been found at rest on a gatepost on 8 July 1949 in Kettering by (E. Osborn). The 1904 moth was recorded in May.

L.O.N.: 1904. Weedon.

First Record: 1904, Whittingham.
