  Status: Resident.

Distribution and Abundance: Rather local.

Primary Habitat: Woodland.

Flight Period: Single brooded from May to July.

Localities: Hazelborough Forest, Salcey Forest, Fineshade and Bedford Purlieus.

Observations: The species has a discontinuous distribution in the county and is much more common in the south than in the north. In literature nationally there are references to moths occasionally being seen in September. This does not appear to have been noted in Northamptonshire. The lower image is one of the darker less well marked forms that occur frequently within the county.
