| Status:
Resident. Distribution
and Abundance: Local.
Primary Habitat: Parkland.
Flight Period: Single
brooded from May to July.
Localities: Yardley
Chase, Wicksteeds Park, Denford and Helpston.
Observations: Although
rows of mature poplars in parkland seem to be the
favoured habitat for the moth, larval mines can also be
found low down in the boles of isolated trees in a
variety of more open situations. One way of recording the
moth is to examine poplars early in the morning where
there are signs of larval activity. The newly emerged
moths can sometimes be found at rest on the tree trunks.
L.O.N.: Thrapston,
Castle Ashby, Yardley Chase. Some poplar trees are
riddled by the larvae, but it is not easy to obtain the
perfect insect.
First Record: 1858,
Green.
