Forbes’s Blackbird Curaeus forbesi – Brazil Distribution: Small areas of Minas Gerais and Alagoas in eastern Brazil. Habitat: tropical forest and surrounding farmland. Numbers: < 500. Threats: habitat destruction, brood parasitism and illegal cage bird trade. Status: Critical.

Grey-backed Hawk Leucopternis occidentalis – Ecuador Distribution: west slope forests in Ecuador and northern Peru. Habitat: deciduous and evergreen forests. Numbers: < 1000. Threats: habitat destruction. Status: Endangered.
